Plant antifreeze cable
Self-limiting heating cable
Protects plants from freezing
The heating cable is suitable for plants as frost protection / winter protection to get the plants through the winter without frostbite. Thanks to the self-limiting property of the plant antifreeze heating cable, the heating cable automatically lowers and raises depending on the ambient temperature. This characteristic means not only saving energy but also more safety, because thanks to this functionality, overheating of the heating cable is impossible, even if overlapped. The heating cable emits light heat and is particularly effective under a heat-insulating protection.
Thanks to the built-in bimetallic thermostat, the heating cable switches on automatically at a temperature below approx. + 5 °C and switches off again at a line temperature of approx. + 15 °C.
The plant antifreeze heating cable can be used for the following applications:
- Tub heating cable
- Root heating band
- Trunk heating band
Use as a bucket heating band:
The ready-to-plug-in heating tape with integrated thermostat is simply installed around the plant pot. To achieve a better heat distribution, it is recommended to cover the heating tape with aluminium foil. Then wrap the installed heating cable with a UV-resistant gardener's foil.
How do I calculate the length of my heating cable:
As a rule of thumb you can use the following calculation method to determine the ideal length of the heating cable:
height of the pot in [cm] : 20 (rounded up) x 3 x diameter of the pot [m].
Example: pot height = 42 cm, diameter = 60 cm
42 / 20 = 2.1 --> (rounded up = 3) x 3 x 0.6 = 5.4 --> 6m heating cable
